Perhaps that is why you see these trends—left leaning people tend to excel and enjoy humanities whereas people who may lean towards the right may enjoy sciences and mathematics. Keep in mind, these are just trends, I can see why people who are more concerned with the abstract would lean towards the right and vice-versa.
