update 3: interesting that he revives the bootstrap argument in the context of string dualities by arguing that fundamenal vs. composite is duality frame dependent. but yes i've heard this argument before but never as clearly stated

final update: he wraps it up by explaining AdS/CFT i.e. holography by giving an argument that gravity and electromagnetism are "dual" in some abstract sense. nice.

after this he gives some lip service to the landscape.... without much to say there beyond the common stuff

overall review:
excellent talk. i wish he went a little further on swampland stuff, which he is known for, or even F-theory stuff, which he is also known for, but instead he just offered some really great intuitive explanations for the more basic ("basic" meaning extremely advanced, since this is string theory after all, but not research-tier) stuff. some of the explanations he gave seem to be original or new, at least as far as i have seen. and they gave me new insight since i never heard these explanations before. but still i would have liked to hear more on his cutting-edge research in addition to his insights on making sense of the "basics" of string theory.

okay i'm done unless anyone else wants to discuss

I really like how I, a layman, had an easy time grasping most of what is basically his figurative language. This reminds me a little bit of the rather less metaphorical Landsley describing applications of Geometric Algebra (not algebraic geometry), I almost feel like I could do it if I wasnt retarded, thank you OP for this lecture. How can I find more stuff like this? For example, if I wanted to simulate solid body dynamics on a computer, that would be horrible, but simple simulating orbits or simple kinematics is easy and fun. Or, doing raster rendering is time-costuming to program but doing rsytracing is trivially eady to program. What is the string theory equivalent?
