If these cunts can invalidate the methods of physicists specifically, I'm all for hearing it. However, the author ignores the counterpoint he/she raises in the beginning that physicists' work is independent of societal forces and resorts to buzzwords hoping to distract the reader from this argument. It seems very valid to me, can OP explain why not?

This is more of a political/philosophical thing, but I firmly believe the Enlightenment's focus on reason and various works of philosophy laid the groundwork for most of the horrors of the past 200 years. Once emotions and empathy were no longer the source of morality, people had nothing holding them back from logically justifying revolutions and genocides. Fascism and communism both owe their philosophical foundations to the Enlightenment, and I believe the Enlightenment has set humanity back at least 500 years. That said, I have a feeling Enlightenment ideals will be discarded in the future: a positive effect of the zeitgeist.

What if you did a pilot program that invested in STEM in various random communities and found you got the least ROI in black communities?

Honestly, I think it would be better to just identify the kids that somewhat give a damn about school or show a little promise and separate them from the riff raff so that they don't get dragged down by the toxic black culture.

Horrors of similar kinds have always existed and will continue to exist as long as humanity. The philosophy of the enlightenment has been used to excuse horrors just like religion and morality before it. However, it is ridiculous to suggest that either is truly negative for the human race. They're both tools and can both be used for good or bad, and I'd argue that we'd be far worse off without enlightenment values.

Quaternions predate the enlightenment. So do mechanical computers. It was only a hop, skip and jump from the 30 years' war to our physics, there was no need to go through an enlightened phase only to credit EVERYTHING to the enlightenment. That is like saying the only reason Edison and Tesla were able to do their things was because the United States had settled Alaska and satisfied manifest destiny. It is maddeningly irrelevant but is somehow semantically attached to everything "good" just like today there is typically a science mainstream credited with things that were not actually necessary for in order for those things to be invented, ie literally most of quantum physics and general relativity were discovered in parallel here and there across Europe, it's just that these people are only mentioned in our books by nobel prize winners and the like who wrote about them. My favorite example is, "oops, i left my student's article at the bottom of my bag by mistake and by the time i found it 6 months later it was too late someone else has beaten him to the publishing punch" in QM around 1937 iirc.
