Prove that if $n$ is a positive integer, $\log_{7} n$ is either an integer or irrational.

All the proofs I've seen online start from the assumption that $\log_{7} n = \frac{a}{b}$, i.e. $\log_{7} n$ is rational, which is neither an integer or irrational, and then they don't prove the contrapositive.
