The mainstream theory of heat transfer says there are three mechanisms: Convection, Conduction and Radiation. How can people actually believe this Afghan blankets exist. Air circulates freely through the giant holes (convection), and energy is free to go through them as well (radiation). Hence it only insulates against conductive head transfer, which is the smallest component if you're not touching anything. Yet Afghan blankets are incredibly warm.

The "heat equation" is based on faulty premises, it should be thought of in terms of "warmness" as a property of objects. Afghan blankets are warm because the material they are made of (wool) contains a large amount of warmness. Other fabrics are warm to varying degrees. Sunlight contains warmness. Spicy foods as well. The opposite of warmness is water. Water cancels the warmness of a wet blanket. The warmness of a sunbeam destroys water. Although fire creates warmness and is destroyed by water, it does not appear to consist of warmness $\it per se$.
