>>11979990>I wanted to clarify that in Quran, not all matter is made of waterWhere does it say that not all matter is made of water?
I'm simply saying that there is a non-supernatural explanation for why the quran says living things come from water
There is mention of drying the clay before using it to make a man. Which is essential what clay pots and other objects have done to them. Regardless, a religious person will engage in eisegesis and say "this must mean adam was made from water" even though another non-water liquid could be used to make clay (and theres no direct mention of the liquid used)
It turns out that ancient greek writings were available to these arabs, meaning it's possible they merely incorporated the text from greek philosophy.
In this regard, a religious person will say to me, "based on all these texts that I believe are true (but cannot prove are true) it must be that the similarity is just chance, since the quran actually is true. Or maybe thales was lucky, or maybe thales was a prophet or a messenger or maybe etc etc etc"
This is merely apologetics. Because a dogmatic muslim thinks the quran must be true, any evidence that aligns with it is proof, any evidence that doesn't align with it is either currently incorrect or doesn't refute the quran (because the inconsistency is waved away as the passage being a metaphor)
for example. If the book of mormon said living things come from water, a dogmatic muslim would say "they copied us" or they got lucky or some other excuse. Yet they will claim (without evidence) that the quran didnt copy thales
