>>11978935In an ideal world, yes. But we don't live in one. The dream that science and facts should be pure is a worthy one, it's the true end goal. But unfortunately, humans on average are petty, vain, violent, and a destructive species. So some inconvenient truths need to be managed. I know it sounds distasteful, but if it were true that some races were on average significantly below the abilities of others, then as long as you're dealing with human beings you wouldn't get an enlightened and sensible reaction to it.
People would not simply accept that you can't generalize, and give individuals every chance they got to rise above if they could. People would not treat the lesser as equal, but with disdain, disgust, and hatred. Even most of the good people would adopt an attitude not unlike one would have for highly functioning pets, or retarded children: meaning well, they would think, but really they'd only cause more harm.
Simply put, we have enough hints to point out that there likely are more or less significant differences in intellect, physique, aggression, creativity, longevity, and general health in different human races. On average, that is. But if we ever recognize them with the kind of "wisdom" we now have, it would only spawn hatred, eugenics, and millions to billions in casualties, war, open racism and segregation. Humans are very stupid, emotional and predictable animals after all.
All of what we have is owed to a handful enlightened, exceptionally intelligent and wise individuals who gave us our art, science, philosophy, and culture. A huge, vast majority is good for nothing more than consuming earth's resources and paying taxes.
