"Business Calculus" is not real Calculus in any sense. I recently took actual Calculus after taking Business Calulus and now realize it's just economist and business majors trying to feel smart by giving it that name.

Business calc never touches trigonometric functions or proofs. Trig/Natural functions are inseparable from the idea of continuous change, which is inseparable from the whole idea of Calculus.

I teach business calculus and calc 1 regularly. The curriculum is handed to us by the college of business, they have decided their students don't need to know trig functions. I can't think of any business functions that are modeled with trig functions anyway. It they ever do find themselves in a situation where they need to use a trig function, they should be able to use this class as a foundation, trig functions aren't that hard to learn on your own.

You can have continuous change without trig. Trig comes up whenever you have oscillatory change.

Why would a business calculus student need to know proofs? The real goal of business calc is to teach students optimization problems. Teaching the proofs is a waste of time. If someone wants to learn proofs they should be in the honors calculus sequence not business calc. This post reminds why I much prefer business calc students over calc 1 students. Calc 1 is full of kids pretending to be smart and spergs, whereas I find business calc students much more well-adjusted and sociable.

Ew. Dynamical systems is about asymptotes, fixed points, eigenvalues/vectors, basically used to explore theory and aspects of differential equations. None of that applied shit.
