Should I go for a doctorate in pathology, or should I try and jump over to the computation side of things - ie, doing the research and coding to develop pathology image-recognition systems? It sounds like a lot of stuff is happening in that field, but I'm in the biomedical sciences program. How much compsci/math would I need to cross the gap and get into that kind of medical software development?
