>>1196162220-30 years. The limiting factors is the cost of processing and the cost of transferring data. Basically, for artificial intelligence to be truly of use at a world changing day/night turn over, we need to be able to design and implement a system that can drive anywhere from 100-500 ExaFlops of performance, with an interconnect fabric that can offer <30ns universally for ANY computation made across the entire computational array.
Computing is actually quite cheap, but moving large amounts of data across a data fabric quickly is the most costly portion of the entire computing system. That said, artificial intelligence needs the ability to process tens of thousands of trillions of calculations per second that are also error corrected in realtime. Any error anywhere in that calculation process and the entire process is fucked.
