I mean you are right that the human mind is a very flexible thing, but so few useful DNA combinations exist that it's a miracle life exists, science has no explanation for how evolution gets past what appears to be mathematically impossibilities, it will probably be millenia before we have to computational power to make meaningful predictions about the behaviour of completely new DNA sequences. Basically every possible niche has already been filled, and plants are gonna stop photosynthesizing as efficiently once the sun gets too bright. Carbon based life is barely possible. Multicellular organisms wouldn't even exist if it weren't for the oxygen catastrophe that nearly killed everything instead. Robots on the other hand are easy to modify and way easier to program than human minds.
