>>11963862>>11962880Star Trek rubber forehead aliens are bullshit.
The conditions that led to Humans appearing are very unique and unlikely to be replicated elsewhere.
Carbon-based life?
Likely
That is also intelligent on a level we could call sapient?
Somewhat likely
With an advanced civilization?
Not very likely
That are also mammalians?
Quite unlikely, there is nothing to suggest mammalians have an advantage on intelligence over avians, or cephalopods. There is also nothing to suggest mammalians would have evolved on Earth at all if it wasn't for very specific environmental pressures.
That also uses hands with opposable thumbs to manipulate its environment rather than a myriad other solutions?
Very unlikely, other natural solutions to this problem are tentacles as in cephalopods, extra-sensitive beaks like parrots have, trunks like elephants have, etc. Basically the only way for our bodies to evolve into the way they are was due to our need for brachiation mobility during our stint as arboreal apes.
Any aliens we encounter are likely to be VERY different from us, due to a whole different set of environmental pressures. It's not unlikely that they'll breathe oxygen from the air like us, though with a different temperature tolerance and with different oxygen needs, since they would be coming from a different atmosphere with a different composition.
For aliens to evolve as bipedal humanoids that grasp stuff with their hands you would need very specific conditions such as plant life evolving as in Earth, turning into rainforests, and animals evolving on such rainforests to develop brachiation rather than a myriad of other types of locomotion. Perhaps they have rainforests but the arboreal life there mobilizes by flying, like parrots. Or by swinging from the trees using tails or tentacles.
