>>11958282There's a shitty website somewhere that tries to show a correlation between sat scores and taste in music. Classical is at the back of the curve with the exception of some cumwad at the front who listened to Beethoven.
My take on the matter is that music is a form of art. It expresses some idea in a sound based way. So maybe those who listen to songs that express complex ideas are more intelligent than those who exclusively listen to music about sex/drugs/etc. The thing is however, is that music can be interpreted in many different ways. So a latter song could also carry some complex idea/s.
All in all, it really isn't a good predictor. I bet some hyper intelligent people listen to songs like gucci gang ironically. People that listen to ambient music are questionable, but in reality you can interpret ambient however you want to like abstract art. A lot of classical songs carry complex and meaningful ideas. Beethoven's 9th communicates this idea of humanity joining together as family under the crushing pressure of the futility of existence. The thing is, is that a lot of people just listen to classical to feel intelligent without putting in any effort to understand it or interpret it/think about it.
Another exception would be some super intelligent person that lazily listens to music. This doesn't really make sense to me but maybe this case exists. Basically, this is a stupid question and highly dependent on the way the person listens to the music they listen to and why they listen to it.
