A computer beat a chess master / an AI produced music therefore consciousness doesn't exist ? What kind of though process is that ? It is false to say that consciousness is required to do any of these things, so the fact that a computer did these things does not disprove the existence of consciousness in any way.
I personally believe that it is possible for a simulated brain to subjectively experience consciousness, the same way people experience it. You just have to simulate the inner workings of the brain well enough.
