What the fuck is wrong with academics and how do we fix it?
I propose a three pronged strategy:
1. Build parallel institutions entirely, including ones with high prestige that can be used to create the legitimacy and name recognition for issuing qualifications.
2. Create websites that teach the specific courses offered by the university with a much higher quality of teaching than the universities themselves. (I mean right down to specific courses, and the specific tutorial questions etc. in them.)
3. Loudly and mercilessly critique the universities right down to individual staff members, and create platforms for doing so. Make it possible for people from the universities to leak material, and run constant negative press, but also positive press when lecturers and tutors do things well.

Any other brainstorming and suggestions are welcome.
I think any honest person can see that academia is a clusterfuck of ruination and it's not going to fix itself.
It needs the momentum and pressure of outside forces, and we can all contribute in our own ways. Including by reversing the toxic mindsets selected for and encouraged by universities.
