No. Teleology is a fallacy. Also, evolution is primarily random. Most people confuse evolution with natural selection.

It seems to strongly correlate with predictable features of the environment, the source of mutations is random molecular noise in the replication machinery though.

Read up on the theory of evolution with an emphasis on critically analysing the accumulated evidence and make up your own mind.
It's a better read than your religious texts because it gets updated every time there is a new discovery.

I would say that evolution produces both conservative forms (convergent evolution) and novelty (creativity)
Andreas Wagner, which I'm not good in understanding, and Stuart Kauffman discuss creativity in evolution

And the anole guy, Jonathan Losos talks about convergent evolution
