In addition, I don't believe that if climate change is as bad as we're told, energy companies and the like would be continuing to pump fossil fuels instead of working on stuff like fusion. Yeah, soft-sighted profit seeking is a factor, but these companies know they wouldn't survive the turmoil full blown climate change is likely to bring. Simply for self-preservation, they would have moved on from fossil fuels, instead of pushing it harder (with stuff like shale, etc.)
That said, I do think we need to move to renewable energy. Even if global warming is overblown, ocean acidification and other CO2 issues need to be fixed.
