Ahem
If I wanted to understand how to make a machine that can replicate smell, and wanted to do this by better understanding chemistry, mechanical engineering, programming, neurology, and olfaction, what would I be best off reading (or doing)?
Also, if I was to start assembling something like this in my garage or some unspecified place, how would I make sure I don't:
-Burn my face off
or
-Accidentally burn the structure down
or
-Accidentally destroy my own sense of smell by whiffing vapours that would destroy it? (I've heard of chemists losing their sense of smell permanently from doing organic chemistry and whiffing the wrong fumes.)
