So i've been reading some studies on whale, krill and other aquatic life population predictions for 2100, as well as all the cited studies within those.. It looks pretty fucking bad hey. Is this even reversible now or is it done?

don't take my word for it but my understanding of the literature is that even the most cynical predictions stop before a glassed, sterile earth.

there is a wide spectrum from "storms and insects and war" to "billions are starving" to "there's nothing we can do to preserve any life on earth"

you're asking to predict the future and that's a very hard thing. human behavior especially is hard to predict. my opinion is that we'll probably wait much longer than we should and it's going to be incredibly expensive to repair, in both lives and money. I don't think that the quality of life of the middle class will suffer all that much inconvenience, but less stable nations will probably be devastated.

even then though, I can't really imagine what the turning point would be. what would be bad enough to get the US, China, etc. to say "actually we were wrong before and this is a problem and we need to implement things immediately."
because so much has been hammered into the public opinion that "climate change is not so bad" by those who stand to profit, changing public opinion is surely going to be difficult. I imagine it would have to be a top-down solution.

even now I think of it as a "future problem" but it would take years until the temperature rise started to slow, and centuries until it would reverse. and that's assuming we start today, and no unforseen consequences emerge.

I guess if we did a full 180 and went super climate friendly RIGHT NOW then we could reverse most of the damage, but there's no way that's happening. The world won't respond to climate change appropriately for at least a few more decades and everything will already be down the shitter by that point. This. I wish environmentalism wasn't so closely tied to the "liberal" politicians. Environmentalism should not be a political issue. I've spoken to numerous "conservative" people who also agree with the basic ideas. The fossil fuel industry undoubtedly uses their influence to keep this political divide going.

Also these. Nuclear energy is the best choice for right now and the near future, but the fucking environmentalist groups get caught up in anti-nuclear propaganda which I think is another one of the fossil fuel industry's endeavors.

Regenerative agriculture to turn the world's deserts into rainforests. Adopt nuclear power in all first world countries and then build a coalition to anex the entire third world and set up nuclear power stations under coalition control. Push the TFR in every country down or up to just above replacement rate. Force the entire world to return to traditional agriculture and ignore the massive famines that result.

An interesting article about the dangers of the increase of aging population with decreasing young population, an upside down triangle basically, the assumptions of growth we've built our government programs and societies around are going to be difficult to maintain it we don't also have huge societal changes within the century.
Lotta stuff is going on and syncing up bad this century, I tell you what.

Multiple environmentally benevolent dictators reshaping how our market behavior, energy sectors, infrastructures, incentives, gut oil companies, and basically get it done within your lifetime.

Best we can do is mitigate the worst outcomes and act like we have no time, cause those 10-20 years away are assumptions based on models. The real world effects inform us how fast it's really happening, and those can change.

Plants need more than CO2 to survive. There are about 70 factors that contribute to plant growth and having an excess of one doesn't do shit, especially if there are other deficiencies.
