Africa is barely beginning to industrialize and urbanize today. Northern Europe did it in the early 1800s, North America did it in the late 1800s, parts of Latin America, Asia and Southern Europe did it in the early 1900s, the rest of Latin America and Asia started in the 1970s. Africa is just starting now.
