Why would it do that? Learning a musical instrument is beneficial to the brain. The drugs some guitar players use may not be.

Nah, it just happens to be a major instrument in a popular genre of music. Regardless, there's not just one style of music that utilizes guitar. Flamenco, jazz, classical, blues...

Don't know about the guitar, but I know that playing the violin or piano raises your IQ. That's mainly why I chose the violin as my instrument.
