>>11932265My take on this is that viral pandemics like this are an expression of evolution: there are too many humans alive on the planet at the same time; add to this the ability to travel to the other side of the planet in a short period of time, which enables a virus like this to spread like wildfire. Who it's killing (or should I say 'culling') are the weakest amongst us, genetically-speaking: your genes either render you highly susceptible to it, or your genes just make you weak in general, you get sick, you die. Note how small a percentage of actual infected people actually die; the rest may in cases take a while to recover fully, but they are now proven to be better suited to remain in the gene pool.
Note especially that it's infecting and killing the stupid people ("""muh freedums""", won't wear a mask at all for any reason, or """muh religious freedums""", insist on congregating in a building, shoulder-to-shoulder, maybe no masks, too).
I'm not saying we should all just ignore it completely and let it take, say, half the population of the planet; that would be a chaos we would never recover from, our civilization would be ruined. But everyone panicking over it like they do isn't going to help anyone, it's just making things even more unpleasant.
