But a sequence is not a series. The sum of a sequence makes sense; the sum of a series, doesn't. Do you mean the limit of the partial sums or the limit of the series of the partial sums? Because what you wrote is closer to the latter. What I'm trying to convey is that "series" already implies "sum". To be mathier:
The sum of the sequence is
$\lim_{ n \to \infty } \sum_{i=1}^{n} a_i$
The sum of the series would be something like:
$\lim_{m \to \infty } \sum_{j=1}^{m} \sum_{i=1}^{n} a_i$

That's the minimum value of the equation right? I've seen an image of the triangular numbers or something where they fit the zeta fu action to it and the curve dips just below 0 for that -1/12th thing.

Is it worth learning calculus or analysis on my own? I don't know what kind of jobs you can get with a math degree. But I can't afford that anyway.

Well, I stand corrected. I never knew people called the limit of a series its "sum". Makes no sense if you ask me but, then again, that's the case with a lot of names given to mathematical concepts. In any case, what I really wanted to get across was that a divergent sequence doesn't necessarily go to infinity, the rest of the post was just autistic nitpicking about the naming conventions.
