What do you think about professional social media and personal branding?
Being naturally shy I dislike the idea of social media also always thought it was a thing for hacks. My work isnt that good but I can compensate by sharing and advertising it.
The problem is that my boss worked in marketing and believe linkedin is some holy grail of the internet. He goes on his weekly linkedin shilling every friday and keeps hammering the idea that we need to show our work to everyone so people know what we do at our jobs.
I'm not a spy or a drug dealer so I don't have any problem showing my job to people even though it will be a pain in the ass to keep dealing with social media.
Should I spend 1-2 h everyday working on personal branding or risk being fired?
