How does light work? I want to make a program that renders a cube based off reflected light. I'm using c++ with SDL. I also want to learn more about light in general, so any information will be helpful.

its a wave or a particle depending on what kind of retarded model you want to use.

realistically you just have to tweak some pixels to be lighter or darker and make sure you only tweak those that are visible in your frame.

nice.
use glew with SDL (Also, if you're straight you really ought to use C), and opengl can get you working on shaders. use a compute shader to do your raycasting, it's way faster if you use a GPU with parallel processing(So probably go branchless if possible. But remember, 'step' is a branch!) than if you used your CPU.

have fun. Just keep repeating these words in your head if you ever get lost: "Vertex Object Array", "State Machine", "Frustum"
