What do you think of archaeology, as a science?

I've gotten very disillusioned with the science during my education. It is so driven by paradigms and in so many studies, the paradigm of the researcher is used as the departure point for interpreting the finds, rather than forming a paradigm based on the analysis of the finds.

Also so many archaeologists make claims about the mental landscapes of the humans they research, without a background in or any knowledge of psychology or neuroscience. Basing interpretations on anthropological studies instead. Especially for prehistory, species-typical behaviours should form the basis for interpretation of behaviour, rather than anthropology.

I think archaeology as a science still cannot be taken fully seriously and other sciences, especially the natural sciences, are right in ridiculing the idea of archaeology as a full science, as it stands now.
