Meta-physics means "post-physics". It is essentially means "why things happen" or the "results of the physical". Is basically just our understanding of why shit happens and while it can be used as a science it is also a skill which increases with more exposure and generally a little bit in all people.
Emotionally retarded schizos and religioniggers add extra spiritual implications to it when this is not metaphysics but infact a distortion acquired after using metaphysics as a stepping stool.
For example if I wanted to conclude that there is a masculine and feminine polarity structurally inherent in nature which affirms the survival of the animal kingdom, this would be obviously true as the concept came from a physical observation or understanding. However, if one were to then assert upon human society that there is a divine Masculine and Feminine deity who rewards men for their masculinity and women for their femininity, this would be false and religious and not metaphysical. Although it is true that society flourishes under good behaviors ascribed to this law and suffers when it rejects this law, that does not permit the assertion that such an effect was brought about by a diety or being of spiritual origin.
So yeah, show me the living thing, spare germs and I'll find you the masculinity or femininity. But I can't show you the God or Spirits, because it simply isn't there and there's no reason to believe so.

Beware of metaphysicians who add moralities or spiritualities to their work. But yes metaphysics definitely is inherently scientific in nature, and more fundamental than any other sciences perhaps. It's taking results from occurrences in nature or society and hypothesizing a natural law.
