Numbers can also have a lot of other meanings.
For example, the next three numbers, 786, are "bismillah" in Islam.
976 is the start of by the minute phone numbers in the USA (along with 900).
You could keep going like this and make a story using the various components.
For example, some Jews in Masada converting to Islam and calling a phone sex hotline gets you 73,786,976 already.
What this extremely autistic skill could be used for, idk, but I use it to keep track of numbers so I don't misremember them when juggling sums in my math working.

I'm not sure. It's only 1000 numbers to get everything from 000 to 999. Then if you can make a story out of those that has 5 things in it, that's almost just one thing to remember that'd give you the numbers from 0 to 1,000,000,000,000,000. (One quadrillion.)

And you'd get the Bader Meinhof effect kicking in, where you'd remember each time you saw a number after knowing what it meant. For example, after learning that 786 meant "bismillah" etc., I then vaguely remembered that the 969 movement in Burma was partially meant as a diss to 786 being used on Muslim places selling halal stuff.
I'd probably end up needing to learn some Chinese and Eastern Roman Empire history to give the numbers around 400 (AD) meaning. Regardless, it's quite a based and autismal pursuit. Might need to learn about car models.

For your post, for example, 1191 can be Saladin's garrison getting rekt at the Siege of Acre. Then 8488 Phones, the luxury phone maker in China.
So Richard the Lionheart at the Siege of Acre looking like a smug Chinese woman, calling England on his luxury phone about the victory.

You could also remember these digits instead as letters.
So 1=a, 2=b etc. and convert these things into words and acronyms.

or "Association on American Indian Affairs" "har de har har", so Nelson Muntz standing to the right of the Association on American Indian Affairs and laughing at it with the voice of someone I knew RL saying that expression (who actually used to say that expression).

Or you could remember that it's a number and mix your mnemonics (so, some in acronyms translated from numbers and some in straight numbers). I'd prefer to keep everything in numbers though, for ease of retrieval.

I don't have a good idea for how to handle numbers/codes with zeroes at the start. For example, if I have the number 985,008 or 173,036, how do I remember the zeroes? (Or include the zeroes.) (e.g. How do I separate the idea of 32 and 032, because the start of some numbers might be 32, and I don't want to remember that as 032, and some numbers might have a 032 in them, which I don't want to remember the same as 32.)
There aren't that many memorable zero [zero or positive integer] [positive integer] things other than 007 and a couple of other spies with double-0.
I could break numbers into things that only ended with 0s (e.g. 958032 could become 95 803 2 [Domitian kills senators, Pax Nicephori, 2 <can remember 2 as 2>]), but I'd like to be able to handle strings of integers starting with 0s.
I'm thinking the integers themselves will gain more meaning.

I also have another challenge, which is how to remember things that use not only numbers and letters, but also upper case and lowercase letters plush non-number non-latin-alphabet symbols like - and _.
The upper vs lowercase thing is tricky.
I can get some non-English words that I suppose the YouTube address generator doesn't catch, and some acronyms, but how do I remember, for example, "gocwRvLhDf8", in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gocwRvLhDf8

I remember attending a memory association class one time which did something similar that you did with the digits (assigning distinct sounds to each digit so that a string of digits sounds like a word).

At the unit level, you could come up with some sort of NATO phonetic alphabet-like word for each letter (making the distinction between lowercase and uppercase by some arbitrary feature such as size, e.g. apple could be for lowercase a and Alligator could be for uppercase A) and string those together to make a story?

gocwRvLhDf could be: a *golf ball that hits an *orange and it splits open to reveal a *clock with *whiskers which then gets run over by a *Rolls-Royce being driven by a *virgin (lol) holding a *Log etc. etc.)

Ok I was a bit of a retard and misread the end of your post here. But yeah you could try using distinct features to differentiate upper and lowercase? Maybe try using colours, size, shape etc.?

this is how memory championship guys can memorize a whole deck of cards in order. They pair an image with each triplet and find it much easier to remember than the digits themselves. It’s a pretty classic technique

Perhaps I could use NATO for the lowercase letters and the first country's name to start with a letter for the uppercase (Afghanistan, Bahamas, Cabo Verde etc.).

That's a bit cumbersome for me to use on a long string, but I could use it on smaller strings and for bits of letter strings that I can't make into chunks in other ways.
What I'm getting at also is that I'd like to be able to assign different meanings to, say Adl, aDl, adL, ADl, aDL, ADL and adl. Where I can regard each one as a single chunk. Easy enough to do when the chunk is all caps, or in a format where case doesn't matter. Harder when case matters. Part of the problem being that google doesn't differentiate when searching. So I can find Anti-Defamation League easily, and even get to the clothing brand adL, but the rest are meaningless. (Other than using your/our method of making, say, AdL into alpha Denmark lima. )

What is happening in your brain is forming connections leading you to the things you want to remember.
For remembering names of people I sometimes find physical associations with the spelling of their name. Like if someone is thin and tall and have a lot of thin and tall letters in their name it's of great help.

Yeah I see what you mean. It is cumbersome and definitely doesn't help your goal of trying to remember chunks of strings.

What I meant in my original post was that the case of the letter could be distinguished by some unique feature e.g. d vs D could be a matter of remembering a 'donkey' (small) vs 'Denmark' (large) as per your example. Or it could be that you decide to remember all lowercase objects as black objects and uppercase as white or vice versa (>inb4 BLM lol).

Still doesn't help with the Adl vs aDl vs ADL etc. problem.

What if you used the uppercase letter as a qualifier? Then you could stack up qualifiers when you build your strings. I'm just spitballing here but for example if you were given 'ADLx' and you're using uppercase to indicate large sized objects, you could imagine an 'Audi' painted in 'Danish' colors being driven by a 'Lion' driving over a tiny 'xylophone'

Again, you just need to have a dictionary of upper and lowercase images with clear differences between the two based on some arbitrary feature (idk why I keep coming back to size, it's probably the easiest to me)

It's hard to come up with a system that allows you to pre-remember chunks of different cases. Hmm I'm sure we have a memory champion lurking somewhere on this board
