Christian here, how did stars and planets from after the big bang? Also why aren't planets pulled in by the star they orbit?

They are being pulled, but since they also have momentum they don't crash into the star and just spin around it
If a planet was to slow down for whatever reason, it would be pulled in and crash into the star it's orbiting.

It's also how we make satelites stay orbiting the Earth. The launch gives them speed and they start going straight, but then gravity pulls on them so they keep going straight but are also pull in by the Earth, but they're moving too fast to crash into the Earth so they just keep going around it

Probably explained it bad but this is pretty simple stuff just look up on youtube

"pure" because theyre werent any other elements there yet
then they blew up and made more elements, repeat ad nausea and then you get more stars and planets

we are being pulled in by the star, but we've got a fuck load of velocity
if you think of an ice skater, when they spin with their arms out and then bring them in, they speed up
the planets do the same, as they get closer to the sun they move around it faster, and at some point that sideways speed will offset the amount we move in towards the sun

Dumb question but what actually gave the planets their initial velocity. Because in my mind i see that when a star blows up, the material will make its way back.

It's basically just random motion, if it isnt falling straight into the sun then it has some sideways angular momentum that makes it orbit
also the rocks dont all just sit in the same spot and wait for the sun that just blew up to grow back, they break apart and move around

Tbf, also as a Catholic, I think that's just most of the populous in general. Most people don't give a shit about subjects that can't directly be used in their life and most of science is interesting but ultimately useless knowledge.Even Aristotle wrote on this distinction between phronesis and episteme and how episteme was something useful to know for the natural sciences and philosophy but ultimately useless to learn (for the most part) in everyday life, while phronesis and techne are the cornerstones of wisdom. I mean, it's not a good state of affairs in the least, but it's not anything remotely new.
