It shows that the student is a lazy and intellectually uninterested piece of shit who doesn't belong in university.The system is to blame, not the student. The underlying problem is that there is no external reward for actually having a deep understanding of subjects because usually exams do not and cannot test it. Most exams test how well you are prepared for the exam which does not necessarily include how well you understand the material.
It's just extremely frustrating when students that invest less time and effort in a subject than you get a better grade because they put all of their time in specifically preparing for the exam but none into trying to get a deeper understanding. This why at some point in my studies I mostly gave up on it and now mainly concentrate on getting good grades, because sadly this is what will matter in the end.
