more mass in an object means you need more acceleration to get a specific change in velocity
moment inertia might be the same as rotational inertia, how much angular acceleration you need to get a specific change in angular velocity

Moment of inertia is the measure of a body's resistance to change in angular velocity. In the same way that you need more force to push a heavier box (i.e, it has more mass), in order to twist something with a greater moment of inertia, you need to apply more torque. It's literally just the angular analogue of mass.
