If they weren't friendly they would just destroy us with a relativistic kill vehicle (or some other way I guess) before we could even see it coming.
We have exactly 2 good uses, as friends to share the universe and our culture with or dead to eliminate competition. We have nothing of value we wouldn't give in exchange of things the aliens could offer pretty much freely (like blueprints to what ever vehicles they have) that they could take from us with force. Our labor is useless, our resources are useless, were pretty much useless as food etc. etc. The only reason I can think off where a logical alien entity would contact us and be violent (outside of maybe some demonstrative sable rattling) would be some kind of apex predator wanting to hunt us for sport but for that to realistically happen the universe would have to be chock full of life for them to see us as something they can just hunt.
