Why do so many people take this weird pseudo-platonic stance that "information" is real?
"information" doesn't exist, it's a word to describe an abstraction corresponding to human sensory experiences and memory assigning value to phenomena. "Information" has no existence or meaning in itself. A particle moving from point A to point B has no "information" or "computation" inside it as a noumenal thing. It is simply what it is. ONLY when a mind can view it and categorize it and assign it a value does the phenomena of the event have "information" or "computation", and only with respect to the mind which considers it.

The entire field of AI and ML is based around the false notion that "information"/"computation" exist when they dont. You can never get a bucket of water to behave like a vat of sulfuric acid because they aren't the same material. They have completely different materials organized in completely different patterns with completely different wavefunctions that propagate through spacetime in completely different ways, with no way to get one to behave like the other. The only way to get one to behave like the other, is to physically organize the material in one, to become the material in the other, in which case you physically get the other one anyway. The only thing that exists in this universe that behaves like water, is water.

The only thing that can behave like a quantum computer is a quantum computer. The only thing that can behave like a human brain is a human brain. The only thing that can behave like a star is a star. Even in principle it's impossible to replicate a human brain on a computer, as it would violate this material reality. Any and all attempts to do so are doomed to fail.
