I rigged a raspberry pi and a USB microscope in order to make time lapse videos of tiny plants splitting.

I can now take a peek at them from any of my computers and record time lapse videos.

What other gadgets and devices can be aquired in order to perform scientific observations?

I've used a lux sensor with a raspberry pi to figure out what areas of my house and yard are most fit for various-sun-needing plants.

For a while I had a one in a small over-wintering greenhouse I had to monitor temp and humidity, but I'm using that space differently.

If I was fatter on time I'd like to set up a full weather station in my backyard, but the rain gauges are questionable.

In aliexpress you can buy one that is a small seesaw with magnetic sensors and a RJ11 cable. It's the exact same thing you can find in a proper scientific rain gauge.

I don't know if it's air that is blowing on the water, if it's convection caused by the temperature change, or if the tiny bugs that came with the plants have enough power to agitate the water
