this is probably gonna come as a shocker to you, but if you have any actual interest in programming (or even computer science if you're a nerd loser), do your own fucking research.
the reputation of a school only matters to the point of them having more money to blow on experimental curricula because the base curriculum that everyone follows is outdated shit. read about their curriculum, look at the required courses and find out people's general thoughts on each one of them, then look into the electives and list all of the ones you're interested in. if there aren't at least a few more electives you're interested in than electives you are required to take, don't even bother ass 99% chance you won't even be able take all of them. lastly, find out how many of those classes have teachers that are praised for actually being good (ratemyprofessor works, but ideally the school might have a course evaluations page with more info).
if you don't do any of this, you're literally rolling a die on the quality of your education. i didn't give a shit about school out of high school, so i just went for the "best" (as in reputable) public school near me to save money. 4 years later, and i can say only 3 of them didn't completely suck dick, and only one of those 3 were required.
in the case you're interested in research, your path is probably going to mostly be similar, except instead of looking into classes, you'll probably be looking into research professors, their papers, and lastly the classes they teach. that being said, i've found that good courses tend to have good research professors in the case that they actually do research, so it might not even matter.
