Some fish are fairly smart for their brain size but its hard to tell because its difficult to make experiments to test it. Some can do basic counting (x is more than y, but don't know by how much) and they need good memory to know where their hidings spots are. They can be taken from these places for MONTHS and be returned and still remember where to go.
