linear algebra for quantum

How essential is linear algebra to physics? Should I just skip it?
Right now I'm learning linear algebra on mit ocw and it's ok, but I'm not really compelled to do it because it's not a formal prerequisite for anything.
I haven't started quantum yet, but before I do so, is it really a good idea to complete linear algebra? I can knock it out in maybe 60 more hours.
Also, what other physics subjects is linear algebra useful for?
