From a young age, I've wanted to go into computing. Specifically, computer or electrical engineering. I now have to decide what I am going to specialize in in school. But I've had this persistent fear of a severe geomagnetic disabling all electronics on earth or some other natural disaster disabling the electricity grid. What are the chances of this happening? How fragile is our world, now that we are increasingly dependant on electronics and electricity. I am now thinking that I want to specialize in something that will prepare me for the aftermath of an event like this or something that would put me on the forefront of research in regards to preventing a disaster on this scale. Speaking on the former, I don't know what that would be... (Natural science, medicine, etc)
