Idk, it seems to me that such a world would look the same but when you changed something in one period (like cutting a tree) and moved to the next one you would not see it changed. That however would ruin the periodic property.

A torus is homeomorphic to R^2/Z^2, which is as close of a thing I can think of to a "periodic space with infinite size" .
