To my knowledge there isn’t a single uniform part of the brain that is completely responsible for consciousness and without which the consciousness can not be exercised.
Arguably, you are your consciousness and I do agree with that but the source of such is not understood, some believe it’s a soul or whatever.
This also leads to some really weird implications: every time you sleep and are not dreaming, your consciousness, and by extension, you, is completely destroyed and non existent.
