>>11895070No. Absolutely not. For the following reason. Sooner or later there will be a severe population crash brought on by a combination of factors. Climate change, increasingly more deadly diseases, social stresses, the effects of various environmental degradation finally catching up...and other stuff of diminishing importance.
Now what few people are aware of is that our entire financial systems, indeed our economies, are based on population growth and the expected wealth generation that comes from future earnings. Population decline screws with this big time. Seriously. So with population decline we get massive economic collapse, lower stands of living, lower life expectancy, massive social unrest, higher infant mortality, breakdown of logistics, all sort of feeding off each other in what becomes a perfect firestorm of civilization collapse.
Now with the collapse of civilization comes technological regression, which simply means we lose knowledge, skills, technical assets, institutions, etc, all the good shit that made our lives today so comfy and nice.
So within a few generations we will be back in the steam age. It is vital we retain the North sea so we can have big naval battles again with steam powered dreadnoughts all a going a boom! and a bang! and blowing up all over the place. This time the British will meet the fiendish Hun fleet at Jutland and give them a jolly sound thrashing without losing so many damned battlecruisers this time. It will be a Trafalgar all over again! Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves...
