Shower-thought about the cause of the rise in global environmental disasters

So I had this thought, and I haven't been able to sleep for several hours now and wanted to confirm if I'm not crazy about this. And sorry for the long post.

Tldr: The increase in severe environmental disasters starting around the late 90's is all China's fault, and not from global warming.

So I'll take this bit by bit, you are probably aware that if you stand up and spin around you will spin slower if you stretch your arms out and spin faster if you pull them closer, you can check it right now if you don't believe me. Next, imagine you have a large ball made off water that is rotating/spinning. Now put a layer of paper that have been cut into pieces covering the water, and the paper is moving along with the water. Now what would happen if you could pinch one of those pieces of paper and make it move slightly slower than everything else? How would that effect all the other pieces of paper? How would the internal movement of all that water be affected?

Now imagine this ball the size of the earth, the water is magma and the pieces of paper are continental plates. And that piece that suddenly started moving slower than everything else? That's the Eurasian plate where China just built a big ass dam that blocked up so much water that the earth have measurable decreased it's rotational speed (remember the “hold out your hands to spin slower” from earlier?).

And if that isn't enough: Get a cup of your drink of choice, grab a spoon and start stirring in circles at an even speed, now start moving the spoon a bit slower and you can see the "streams" forming and causing a bit of chaos before recovering back to normal. Now imagine that spoon being the Himalayas and the drink being the air/wind. Chaos? The three Gorges Dam started building in 1994 and finished 2008.

So: have you noticed any increase in the number and severity of natural disasters related to earthquakes or weather-patterns since around the late 90's up until now around the world? Or am I just crazy?
