Difference between books and textbooks?

Textbooks are aimed at students. They usually focus on a more narrow range of subjects and try to be as thorough as possible. They are also ordered in a way where later content builds on previous content.
Normal books are aimed at the general (educated) public. In the beginning and in the blurb, they try to bait you into buying the book. They usually only give you surface level understanding on the most interesting normie friendly topic in the subject.

I'd study media. It is tends to run a dual purpose as entertainment. Groupthink often rides those lines.

Maybe if the book isn't too long, read it and then look for textbooks about the subjects that interested you the most.
I'm guessing you're not doing that for academic reasons so you can freely decide what to read about.
