You need to realize that MOST stars in the galaxy are red dwarfs and NONE of them have ever died of old age, some will live for TRILLIONS of years. If our Universe was a human it would be a a couple hours old.

The only universe we're likely to observe is one that can support life, which would suggest that only "young" universes do so.
In answer to OP, it could then follow that it would be unlikely for life to exist towards the end of the universe.
