Nasa has detected an unusual supernova overdensity in the constellation of Sculptor. The overdensity consists of several supernovas that appear to be directly overlapping from our perspective, however they are at different distances to each other, being at 11.3 Gly, 10.8 Gly, 9.3 Gly, 9.1 Gly, 8.6 Gly, 8.3 Gly, 7.9 Gly and 7.6 Gly respectively. The best explanation is that something is moving towards us, but it is moving so quickly that the light from it's motion is only a tiny fraction ahead of it.
A press conference is expected on Monday.
