Don't expect to become a mathematician or anything. Statistically speaking you're most likely to end up a codemonkey or some underpaid-overworked PHD student. I would go in with the aim of becoming a teacher.

the math that you learn as an undergrad is a joke, its not sufficient training to be useful in most of the fields mathematicians are well positioned to work in. PhD is an intelligence test and proof of merit to financial and tech firms. the only advantage math majors have over CSniggers is there competence at high level abstraction, you hardly exercise such faculties before the end of first year grad. if you just want to get a bachelors do CS w/math minor and build a robust portfolio, network.

Engineering bachelor's teach students how to be at engineer. People hire engineers.
Same with accounting, business admin, etc.
Math bachelor's teach students how to be a mathematician. Except the bar to being a mathematician in today's age is too high for undergrads. People don't hire mathematicians, and even if they did they now a math bachelor's is not sufficient to being a mathematician nowadays. You need to go to grad school.

Majoring only in math is only good if you’re doing a math PhD which takes a truly exceptional intellect and is beyond the capabilities of most math majors, or if you want to be a math teacher for middle or high school.

However, if you’re double majoring with a STEM or business subject, math is one of the most useful and strongest majors you can take (CS as well), whether you do finance, economics, physics, cs, even biology or chemistry, double majoring with math shows you know your stuff and will get you a much better job and preference for getting into grad school.

Hi OP I just finished up my Bachelor's in Math and Stats this year. I would definitely recommend learning a programming language as well as picking up another stem related major. Having only a Bachelor's in Math will give you options since it's fucking hard, but it doesn't really set you up anywhere career wise besides grad school.

I would recommend looking into areas where you feel like applying your math skills would be fun. For me, that concentration was operations research.
