Usually the argument is that you're reversing the causality (e.g. lower class have a low IQ because they're lower class). The answer, depressingly, is probably inbetween (if you're lower IQ, you're more likely to end up being lower class, which will also lower your IQ further, etc).

To the defence of the left, in the past such politics rooted in biology have justified some pretty horrifying policies in the 20th century. It's something that you REALLY want to be careful with.

Libs are more likely to attend colleges. I think repubs are more often blue collar, which would mean more skills-based educations and less critical thinking/logician based learning. Stop, the only thing IQ can strongly correlate to is spaitial/numerical ability. Thus why Mathematicians and Physicists consistently score among the highest on those tests. However Mathematicians and Physicists are not the highest earners in the economy. Thus showing that the class correlation is weak as it is based on subjective and not objective worth even with empirical evidence in hand.

Meanwhile criminality can be influenced by a number of factors including IQ but the only strongly correlated factor that has been proven and verified by multiple countries is blood lead levels. Since neurological scans can show physical deterioration of brain regions due to high exposure.

As for culture, one would be foolish to deny that IQ plays a role in how it develops and expands. But that role is an extremely messy one as it is rarely distributed in a logical manner. Since it is the very interactivity of various non-linear events involving everyday survival, practicality and emotional perspective that ultimately creates a culture. Examples being East Asians have higher IQ averages than Europeans. Yet it was the Europeans who brought over electricity and the scientific method to them. Indians despite lower IQ than Europeans and East Asians produced the most humanitarian/ nonviolent version of expression and protest. African Americans despite lower IQ than Europeans and East Asians produced blues and jazz which has had the most widespread influence on modern music globally.

Actually they do anon. The argument pushed by proponents is that societies with higher IQs will develop the most sophisticated and influential abstract products. History has shown this is not always the case as I've stated. If the validity of IQ did extend strongly to culture. One society would monopolize on the creation and discovery of every abstract product we have. They would have also developed it prior to a fully global market. How do you for example explain East Asians not having mastery of electricity and the scientific method despite higher IQ averages? If you bring up subject matter such as different philosophies and social priorities you only hurt the argument for IQ. Again only a fool denies the role of IQ in culture but it is not clean role.

keep in mind that correlation does not always mean causation. Your performance on an IQ test will depend greatly on the conditions in which you were raised. Poor living conditions suggest lower IQ. Poor living conditions also suggest higher crime rates. Low IQ does not necessarily mean higher crime rates.

And here's where you're wrong. The issue isn't about low IQ groups being unable to contribute anything. It's about the fact that high IQ groups are missing out on discovering/ creating abstract products that they should have made first. Given the encounter of similar conditions and higher frequency of individuals capable of producing it. The reason why this is important is because of "independent discovery" and "multiple discovery" are real phenomenon where two or more individuals separated by great distances and time figure out the same discovery or creation of an abstract product.

To utilize you example between the two groups why did Ashkenazi Jews (or Jews in general at this point) despite having a higher IQ average than African Americans and experiencing similar conditions (slavery, ghettos, social stratification). Completely missed out on developing the music genres of blues and jazz? Logic should dictate that either Ashkenazi Jews develop it first or develop it near simultaneously within a similar time frame as African Americans. But that didn't happen.

I had a IQ score of 147 when I was young but my single mother didn't want me attending "weird classes" and to grow up normal. Funny because she still enrolled me in Mensa. I think it was free as a child though but I can't remember and the gifted class was at a different school that didn't have a bus route. Anyways I had substandard SAT/GPA in highschool so the environment in which you're raised in will be a great indicator of a academic success.

I later got 99%ile on the GRE so IQ is a good indicator of potential.

This argument is well put together, and I think I would tend to agree if you were talking about anything more serious than artistic genres. It would be sort of like saying why didn't polish people invent reggae, or why didn't ancient greeks invent pointillism. To my knowledge they invented their own styles of art and of course no one group invented every style.

I'll admit I don't have a good understanding of art history or what drives the creation of new styles etc, but it seems to me that just because culture A developed one kind of at and culture B developed another you can't say culture A was too stupid to develop culture B's art.

On the other hand with anything even slightly more serious like science, math, or technology, a group that lags behind truly is at a material disadvantage.

What? You understand what Jazz is conceptually, right? It evolved as a result of African Americans, with their very different sense of rhythm vis a vis Europeans, being exposed to American popular music/European classical forms by way of the melting pot of American society as blacks began to participate with greater equality in the late 19th- early mid 20th century. It's literally just popular/traditional(white) music * much greater reliance on improv * the critical ingredient, African rhythms. Improvisation has existed since time immemorial, but the specific structure of jazz required non-caucasian rhythmic intuition - "getting down", funk, polyrhythms with loads of syncopation, etc. It's absolutely integral to the genre and white people as a population do not have the same sense for drums, so Bach, Beethoven, Stravinsky, whoever would not have composed in such a style without black input. Of course, once it was there, many of the best contributors ended up being whites, such as Bill Evans, the greatest jazz pianist of all time.

Although IQ obviously has some dependence on the circumstances in which you grow up, it seems to be more geneticly determined than height. While lack of nutrition explains some of the height variation in the world, it would be silly to say that the japanese are shorter than the dutch because they lack proper nutrition. In the same way it is silly to say that african americans have lower IQ scores than jews because of a lack of proper nutrition.

The issue isn't specifically about artistic genres though, it is about the creation of abstract products in general. Yes, I do disagree with this stance in that I don't believe the ability to generate abstractions is mostly genetic. I do agree that genetics does play a role and IQ at least points to a stronger correlation to spatial/numerical ability. So the possibility that it can influence the skill of certain abstractions is feasible. How much influence IQ has in realizing other abstractions outside that is debatable, which is my primary point since groups who have higher IQ have missed out on developing abstractions that lower IQ groups have done despite exposure to similar conditions either previously or currently.

I actually agree with you on this in a general sense. I think where we differ is on assuming an inherent value on a given abstraction. Then extrapolating that value to assume the individual can create abstractions from any realm.

I believe it can be weakly generalized rather than strongly. The issue becomes how much does previous events within culture plays a role in a group's ability to realize those various abstractions compared strictly from genetics. For example Earnest Just an African American biologist experenced racism in 1900's where he couldn't pursue academia in-depth within the US like he could in Germany. This was because of his genetic ties to slavery. So his academic work/ early death due to location in WW2 reduced his ability to influence African American culture. And in turn reduced those who followed ability to penetrate academia to a greater degree earlier.

Yes, you technically could do this and in controlled circumstances this would be perfectly feasible. However in reality where non-linear events transpire, families and ethnic groups can be prevented from realizing abstractions because of various circumstances unrelated to their genes.

Your argument falls apart when you try to apply it outside of modern society. Try guessing why arranged marriages are a thing. Either way, just because the nerds you know aren't lording over society right now doesn't mean no one is. It just so happens that the actions of those above favor you in their quest to shape society as they see fit. And I don't think you'd be able to call them chads by any stretch of the word.

The two areas tested are part of the limbic system and both of these areas are where emotion is shown to be expressed.

This is like saying in your results that the right side of the heart pumps more blood but never talking about their blood pressure or plasma concentration of the blood.

" The results show that there were no significant differences in the behavior of Republicans and Democrats."

Their over all decision making remained the same so if their minor differences existed and were important enough their should be a difference in behavior.

They also did not test if they were just observing neurodiversity.
