I don't think brainwashing would be quite the right term, but I'm interested in learning how to basically reprogram my thoughts. Like for example learning to be a more positive thinker after being raised in a very pessimistic environment and always just thinking that way naturally as a result.
I've read books about CBT and other forms of psychotherapy, but they tend to be vague and I think these techniques work better on stupid people.
I don't need to understand 'why' I think the way I do, in fact it's pretty logical and understandable why i do, I just want to change it without injecting lane self help platitudes or spiritual bullshit.
I've also been reading about neuroplasticity and the dopamine reward system and figure there must be a systematic way to change the way I think using practical techniques.
Has anyone tried this or does anyone have any suggestions as to where to start? Thanks.
