ITT: people with no understanding of how lung infections work
When a disease like Covid or Pneumonia attacks lungs, it reduces the patient's ability to absorb oxygen. The attack is twofold: first the physical virus-infected cells cannot take oxygen gas and place it in the blood, secondly the physical presence of the unusable cell becomes dead weight for the rest of the lung to move in order to breathe. For "healthy" people it reduces the oxygen going into their blood which thus reduces their body's ability to preform basic functions, especially in the brain. For older patients this can even cause death as less oxygenated blood eventually forces a stroke as the brain begins to die and dead cells clog up needed pathways. Symptoms begin with delusions (common even in hardened people, eg pilots or scuba divers with equipment malfunctions) then proceed to geinune learning disabilities followed by a loss of motor control and then death as the body stops being able to preform basic functions. This is why they often need to be on ventilators, since ventilators will greatly assist patients breathing by forcing lungs to expand and contract. It's also extremely discomforting for the patient and done improperly can kill them, which is why proper training and monitoring is required. This all boils back to a basic math equation of patients:nurses and is why hospitals panic even if they have spare beds.
In "fairness" (as if that word applies here) this is a common way for old people to die which is why /pol/ is not taking the pandemic seriously even though they are supposedly all about traditionalism, strong families, and racial unity. The same goes for the BLM looters, and easily explains why blacks have thrice the infection rate of whites. This will become more obvious as sports come back on, even now it's enough to prevent both parties from holding their primaries and conventions out of fear.
