Can someone explain this shit to me? I tripped and fell down my stairs today but I’m alright, it got me thinking whether or not there’s an alternate reality out there where another me, RIGHT now, broke his spine and is paralyzed of d sad one thing equally horrific.

I thought the many worlds theory allows for possible future outcomes, there are no future realities where either of those Things you listed can ever happen.

There are infinite or transfinite instances of you interacting with the stairs in every physically possible way, where the most probable are more numerous and the most rare or unique are less numerous. You don't even live in a "single reality" like its a fucking Marvel 'dimension', the consensus reality you experience is an overlap of many physically possible arrangements and the future is ever-changing, confined only to the laws of logic and physics.
So yes, there's another instance of the same arrangement of atoms you call you who tripped and got hurt, but the actual *you* that you are, experienced only what is now in your past.

I have to say. I was never a proponent of MWI (nor were most in the physics community). But that's because of Everett's version, which was inadequate. This more recent derivation is a lot more refined. It now has enough caveats that it doesn't sound like crazy talk anymore. But is it right? Who knows?
